Life Mag Column: Girls & Boys

Magnetic lashes, men’s make-up and underboob sweat, our beauty know-it-all has it all and much, much more.

MOST WANTED

I’ve been sweating a lot more lately from filming Celebrity Operation Transformation on RTE. Thankfully, there are now products from Megababe that address sweat in specific zones. Bust Dust Anti-Boob Sweat Spray, below, $16, is a super-effective antiperspirant powder that ensures your cleavage doesn’t get clammy when working the dance floor or chilling on your chaise!

There’s also a product for chafing, Thigh Rescue Anti-Chafe Stick, $14, which is filled full of grapeseed oil and vitamin E to form a frictionless base on the skin. See megababebeauty.com

HOLLYWOOD HAIR

Hollywood hair: Amy Adams

For Hollywood hair like Amy Adams, pictured above, check out Hair by Mane at The Grooming Rooms, on South William St, where Andrew Dunne, an award-winning colourist and the Irish Colour Ambassador for Wella, can be found creating red-carpet-worthy looks.

The salon, which is located in stunning Georgian rooms (complete with fireplace), is ideal for a real ‘me day’ treat.

Colour isn’t Mane’s only forte – a cut and Hollywood-style blow dry will have you leaving the salon doing that obnoxious hair-flick thing, but hey, when you look that good! And with a blow-dry from €35, there’s no excuse not to.

BABE MAGNET

One Two Lash

Magnetic lashes are a thing now! Go on, google them. They’re always popping up on my social-media feeds. One Two Lash, above, $59-$69 for one case of four sets, uses micro-magnetic technology to sandwich your natural lashes between two ultra-lightweight fibre strips, to create a bold, dramatic lash line in seconds.

It’s mad to look at and a bit fiddly to start with, but the effect is immense. So much easier than faffing about with fiddly lashes.

TRIONA’S TRICK

Back to school and I’m finding all sorts of beauty hacks in Mini and Maxi’s pencil case! I used a pencil eraser to push back my cuticles, and a matching marker is perfect for colouring in the chipped edges of my manicure!

TRIONA’S TOP TRENDS

I’ve been buying a lot of my clothes in the menswear section lately, because I love to mix things up a bit. I adore everything Alessandro Michele is doing at Gucci, so of course I had to see what he had for the boys, and bought the most beautiful Angry Cat blue-and-white striped knit.

Then there’s Ermanno Scervino’s autumn/winter 2017 collection, which had an amazing pinstripe suit and matching coat – the combo had the model executing a sexier vibe than any skimpy dress could manage. Beauty is also playing around with these classic boundaries.

MMUK Liquid Foundation For Men, €37.16, asos.com, is, according to a male friend of mine, the best base ever for the fellas.

I’ve always worn Acqua Di Parma Cologne, from €104 – a unisex scent with its warm, wearable blend of Sicilian citrus, lavender, amber and musk.

Roja Parfums Elysium, €275, Parfumarija, is designed for men, but the vetiver and leather notes are addictive, so why shouldn’t I be the one to wear it?

Just use what you love and do what you love, is my attitude.
