Now that I’m in my 40’s, lots of peeps tell me I might need to lighten my hair, or at least cut it shorter! While I admit my, em, natural highlights – grey hairs – are coming through faster than ever, meaning my colour needs to be done every three weeks, I’m still not ready to lighten or chop my hair.
However, golden hair is killer this season. Blonde with a gold metallic edge is so chic. L’Oreal Professional previously launched their Majirel Metals in salons and their no. 12 Ash Gold (Ash Golden) is a perfect option when it comes to this trend. This champagne colour has a serious sheen, too gorgeous and noticeable to be anything other than a metallic finish.
To keep the shine and gloss, at-home maintenance is key. A good conditioner is vital. PRO:VOKE’s Liquid Blonde Intense Shine Conditioner, €7.29 restores the glow, and softens and soothes the hair, working almost like a treatment, rather than a conditioner.
If you don’t want to permanently colour a metallic tone into your hair, there are some fabulous cheats out there. Redken’s Metal Fix 08 Metallic Liquid Pomade, €18.45, is a medium-hold hair styling product, that when applied on your finished style, will add highlights of metallic shimmer and shine. And when you’re done, just wash it out!

My top tip when buying new make-up brushes sis to bend the bristles on each brush as far as you can to one side. If they are good quality, none of the hairs will pop off in your hand.
MOST WANTED
When it comes to perfume, I always buy the 100ml bottle, as it’s often the best value. However, as I travel a lot, hauling a large glass bottle around with me is not ideal. So, I generally get around this by decanting my signature scent into a Travalo, €14.99 from secretfashionfixes. It’s the original easy-t-refill fragrance spray bottle and definitely the best. Otherwise, I bring my latest discovery, Diptyque Eau Rose Eau de Toilette Roll-on, €39, from Brown Thomas.

One of the best bits about working on Today with Maura and Daithi on RTE is having marvelous MUA Kate Noonan do my make-up. Kate waves her magic wand over me and suddenly, when I step out on the set, I look like I have an Instagram filter on my face.
