Life Mag Column: Think Pink

It’s time to think (millennial) pink, as the colour is having a moment. Triona McCarthy rounds up lotions and potions a-plenty in the colour that’s sure to make boys wink!

The pretty packaging, sweet scent, and, most importantly, the skincare benefits, make this Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask, below, €45, by Glow Recipe, a dream cream.

Balm Dotcom in Original

Glossier (pronounced gloss-ee-ay) is the skincare and make-up brand that totally embraces millenial pink, with its signature shade of on-trend Glossier pink.

The beauty brand was founded in 2014 by Emily Weiss, a former fashion assistant at Vogue, as well as the founder of beauty website Into The Gloss. I’m a fan of it all, but the Balm Dotcom in Original, above, €25 for a set of three, see netaporter.com, is a must, as it’s a hydrating, long-lasting lip and skin salve, and is chock-full of natural emollients and antioxidants to nourish and repair dry skin.

Himalayan salt gets its pretty pink colour from the presence of iron and copper. It also contains magnesium, potassium and calcium components, which help to ease muscles when it’s used in the bath, as these will be absorbed through the skin.

Roger & Gallet Rose

Thought I’d throw a little Frenchie in here, as it’s Bastille Day next Friday. Now, if you’re planning on wearing something French that day, why not spritz on Roger & Gallet Rose, above, from €22.50, by the number-one perfume brand in French pharmacies. Not only does it smell tres chic, it promotes well-being through the power of aromachology.

Bisous!

TRIONA’S TOP TRENDS

2017-07-09_lif_32120921_I3.JPG
Colour Riche Jardin de Roses by L’Oreal Paris

Mini, my two-year-old, is obsessed with pink. If you watch my Insta stories, you’ll see the battle I have to dress her in the morning, as she always wants pink everything. She even calls herself Mini Pink White!

There’s no escaping the dusty shade of pastel pink that’s taken over Instagram – every fashion and beauty brand is obsessing over it, too.

I always say the easiest and least expensive option when trying out a new trend is to do it on your nails. Colour Riche Jardin de Roses by L’Oreal Paris, above, €7.59, is a beautiful soft shade of pink. It’s a grown-up, elegant pink that’s very natural-looking, and it’s actually a great neutral.

At the other end of the pink scale are the peeps who have taken on pink from their nail tips to their hair flips. If you’re too afraid to commit to totally changing your hair colour, why not try out L’Oreal Paris Colorista Sprays, €10.75. They’re great for a festival or a week away from work, as the wash-out colours last a week and don’t require any bleaching. So you get all the fun of the trend, without the commitment.

Even Touche Eclat, Yves Saint Laurent’s cult product, has pinked itself up, with the launch of Touche Eclat Glow Shot in Sunrise, below, €25, a pretty rose-pink highlighter that’s full of hyaluronic acid and golden micro-pearls, so it plumps skin as well as giving a gorgeous glow.

Pop it on your Cupid’s bow, on the tops of cheeks or on your decolletage, or pop a drop in with your foundation.
