The Fabulous Inchydoney Island Lodge & Spa

Inchydoney Island Lodge & Spa, a beautiful four star hotel down near Clonakilty, West Cork, is probably one of my favourite spots to get away to. It’s the ultimate weekend trip down the country, whether it’s with family or solo. The kids love it, I love it… well, what’s not to love!

Our warm welcome!

Considering the building overlooks the Atlantic sea and Inchydoney beach, can you imagine the spectacular views from the room alone? Make sure to book one with a private terrace – it’s so worth it.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES

If you’re a restless soul, bent on outdoor activities, the coastal location is your best friend. From surfing to whale watching, there’s so much to do. You can even do a sea kayaking tour of West Cork – how gorgeous would that be on a beautiful day! To tempt you, just take a peek at the hotel’s live beach cam here. Take me there now!

And no-matter what time of year, the beach is always a big hit with the kids.

Even in the chillier weather, they had a fantastic time.

THE SPA

If you’re not as inclined to get out and get moving, preferring to relax during your stay, the spa is absolutely incredible. From a Cleopatra’style Milk & Honey Bath, €40, to a Classical Algae Body Wrap, €45, or a Lavendar Body Polish, €50 all the way to signature treatments like the Golden Glow Ritual, €165, and €Elemis body treatments and facials – this is the ultimate spot to relax. HEAVEN.

There is also a menu of options tailored to men at the spa, including an Urban Cleanse facial, 80 – aimed at the ‘super groomer’. Couples can book out The Couple’s Suite – a private area just for the two of you. The ultimate duo treatment has to be the Time for Two Spa Ritual with Rasul Retreat, €250 per person. This includes an amazing Rasul Treatment, Muscle Melt Massage and an Anti-Ageing Elemis Facial. You can then go enjoy lunch together in the lounge!

FOOD

The best of food is served in the Gulfstream Restaurant and Lounge, as well as a more casual option in Dunes Pub & Bistro. Seasonal produce abound and great, honest food, cooked perfectly. And when they say the fish is fresh – it’s literally right from the sea and honestly, there is nothing better.

Oh, and as someone commented on my Instagram “Best brekkie in Ireland!” Maxi has confirmed the fact, judging by his enthusiasm below…

Maxi wholeheartedly approves of the breakfast!

FAMILY ORIENTATED

In terms of bringing your family, I needn’t sell you on the services, outdoor activities, kid’s pool or beautiful beach, but I must stress how well you will be looked after as a family by the staff. They will even provide kites, swing ball, croquet, etc. to bring to the beach with you on your trips out. And if you’re planning to set up shop on the sand for the day, order a picnic hamper from the menu available!

When indoors, they have a fabulous playroom for the kids.

HIGHLIGHT

One of the best outings we had in the surrounding area was a trip to the West Cork Model Railway Village and a go on the train line there.

All aboard the train!

Inchydoney have a phenomenal range of ‘Twixmas’ offers for late December into early January, which would be a fab time to go and relax after all the Christmas madness!
