Triona’s trends

Clinique’s BIY Blend It Yourself Pigment Drops

Some of my beauty-writer friends speak of beauty fatigue, where they feel like they’ve seen it all before. But  I reckon if you’re tired of  make-up and skincare, then you’re tired of life!

I still can’t get enough of new trends and lotions and potions. In fact, I’m writing this from Milan, where I’m backstage at the Armani autumn/winter 2017 show, soaking it all up.

The biggest trend I’m noticing is how beauty has become a lot more bespoke. At the Armani show, Linda Cantello, Armani’s international make-up artist, was mixing up the pigments to create new shades especially for the show.

For SS17, which is just hitting shops now, the Runway Palette, €130, is the product to give you the look. It has two sections – a beautiful bronzer on the top tier, while the three eyeshadows on the bottom are all you need this season for an on-trend eye.

Clinique’s BIY Blend It Yourself Pigment Drops, above, €34, are another bespoke creation this season. While not a new concept, these drops work much better than their predecessors. Combine them with moisturiser for custom coverage.

Dior’s Rouge Gradient

Dior’s Rouge Gradient, above €30, is a ‘lip shadow’ duo, for creating customised colour gradation on your pout. Meanwhile, Tom Ford Beauty has launched two new shades in the original Shade And Illuminate Cheek range, €68 – Scintillate, a peachy-pink with pearl highlighter; and Sublimate, a rosy-pink blush with a beige highlighter.

Cult product

Bbo Bbo lip balm

I’ve been obsessed with the brand TonyMoly for a while now, often writing here about the cute, yet high-quality, bits I buy online.

However, you can now buy the brand in Brown Thomas.

Bbo bbo means kiss in Korean, and this Bbo Bbo lip balm, above, €12, is a cult favourite among kissing fanatics like moi, and Korean pop stars.

Pump it up

Phomollient Styling Foam from Aveda

Pssst! A little birdie told me that there’s a new beauty mecca opening the first week in April – The Brown Thomas Beauty Lounge, on Clarendon Street in Dublin 2.

All I know at the time of going to press is that it’s going to be a state-of-the-art luxury destination with a blow-dry bar from Aveda, nails and pedis from Nails Inc, plus brow shaping and threading.

I am just pumped about it all!

Speaking of pumped, I hope they’ll have Phomollient Styling Foam from Aveda, above, €19.50, as this pumps up the va-va volume of my hair like you wouldn’t believe.

It’s so lightweight, yet it gives volume that lasts all day, with no icky-sticky feeling.

I also get a super sheen to my hair when I’m using it, making me and my hair feel pumped! #fistpumpinggood

Art attack

Kate Moss

“Youth is the gift of nature, but age is a work of art”, according to poet Stanislaw Jerzy Lec. I couldn’t agree more, so I’ll be hotfooting it into Art of Beauty, the spring event at Brown Thomas, which is running until March 26 in all BT stores.

As always, they have an incredible group of make-up artists and brand ambassadors from Estee Lauder, Giorgio Armani, Laura Mercier and Charlotte Tilbury, which is adored by Kate Moss, right.

Expect lots of exclusive previews, including Clinique’s BIY drops, as well as Phillipe Starck exclusive fragrances.

The Beauty Garden is back on level three in Brown Thomas Dublin, where they’ll have Korean beauty masks from Nugg, and MaskerAide.

Triona’s most wanted

Hot Cologne from the Mugler Les Exceptions fragrance collection

Right so, the rumour is that certain French classic fragrances have been reformulated so that they’re cheaper to produce – although the retail prices have rocketed. Hmmm!

This is definitely not the case with the Mugler Les Exceptions fragrance collection – which includes Hot Cologne, above, €170 – exclusive to Brown Thomas. So I’d like to say a big thank you to Mugler for bringing two spectacular perfume designers – Olivier Polge and Jean-Christophe Herault – together to create this collection that I am utterly hooked on.

The collection is reminiscent of classic perfumes, with a mix of floral, musk, oriental and fern scents. I first found them in the Marvel Room in Brown Thomas at Christmas, and couldn’t get enough of them, as I preyed and sprayed at the counter constantly when I was in town.

Obviously it’s the scent I adore wearing, but the packaging and bottle design are equally stunning, with the classic simplicity of the sharp, clean lines of the simple glass bottle.

Hot Cologne is the latest hit in the range, and, as you would expect, it’s seriously sophis!

Triona’s trick

I get awful PMS. Especially in Brown Thomas, where I always need to Purchase More Shoes! Ha ha ha ha! Geddit? I have a pair of Saint Laurent tennis shoes with stars that I adore, but the white soles get so grotty! The only thing that makes them look like new again is nail-polish remover on a cotton wool pad, which wipes away marks like nothing else. A dab of Vaseline protects them, and they look #goodasnew
