HOT TO TROT!

Red hot sunglasses, Louis Vuitton x Kusama make-up purse & my Eucerin Sun Gel-Creme Oil Control SPF 50+

“Excuse me Triona!”
“Oh hello!” I said as I turned around to see a gorgeous girl behind me, in Brown Thomas, this weekend, where I was hosting a workshop.
“Can I ask you a skincare question please?!”
“Of course!” I said, “that’s my favourite thing to talk about! That and make-up and handbags and shoes and sleb gossip!”
“Ok so, can you recommend a sun cream for oily, breakout prone skin please?” the Galway gal asked.
“What a great question, especially given the scorcher of a weekend we’re having!”I said.
Appara it was hotter here in Ireland than Ibiza this bank holiday.
Anyhoo, back to my lovely lassie’s question.
Or rather my answer.
Finding the perfect sunscreen is tricky enough never mind when you have oily skin.
Everyone wants healthy looking skin and shouldn’t have to compromise on their sunscreen for the fear of breaking out.
Years of trying various lotions and potions as a beauty columnist, has given me a great understanding of what oily skin needs to keep skin protected as well as looking and feeling great.
Now, I love a dewy complexion just as much as the next person, but there’s a fine line between a glowing complexion and a greasy one !
I myself have an oily t-zone and cannot stand the sticky feeling of sunscreen on my face, but would never dare skip sun protection as not only is it potentially dangerous for your skin health, but it can exacerbate oiliness and create inflammation that can trigger more breakouts.
Many sunscreens contain oils and rich ingredients designed to prevent dryness and can overload oily skin leaving it feeling greasy, clogging pores and causing blemishes and look overly shiny.

Eucerin Sun Gel-Creme Oil Control SPF 50+

My go-to sun daily sun protection is Eucerin’s Sun Gel-Creme Oil Control SPF 50+ as it provides the protection I need without excess shine AND it also improves skin condition.
I always have some with me especially since it’s available in a 50ml bottle so I can pop it in a plastic baggy for carrying in my hand luggage
It ‘s thanks to Eucerin’s Oil Control Technology, specially formulated to combat shiny skin with its sebum-regulating L-Carnitine and three lipid-absorbing micro particles to absorb any remaining excess oil for a dry, matt finish and an up to eight hour anti-shine effect.
Yes-EIGHT hours!
It’s also non-comedogenic and free of perfume and parabens.
But best of all for a make-up maniac like myself, it’s the perfect make-up base and TOP TIP acts like a primer.
You only need a small amount-see pic-and it absorbs quickly into the skin without leaving any sticky white residue behind on the skin.

Don’t let on if you see him, but Will my hubby loves it as well because of the matt effect and doesn’t look like he’s all shiny.

Basically it feels great on skin, while hydrating and protecting from the sun.

This is all you need for the face!

And now for the science bit!
A broadband and photostable UVA and UVB filter system protects against sun damage, while antioxidant Licochalcone A (Licorice extract) strengthens skin cells and Glycyrrhetinic Acid supports skin’s own cell repair mechanisms.

The clever clogs at Eucerin carried out a study involving 325 subjects with oily, acne-prone skin show excellent results.
They reported:

  • Ultra-light texture (95%)
  • Long-lasting dry matt finish (94%)
  • No shine a few hours after application (93%)
  • Immediate absorption (98%)
  • After four weeks of product application, women with oily to combination skin confirmed that :
  • Their skin was less oily (90%)
  • The product has a sebum-regulating effect (81%)
  • The product did not clog their pores (86% )

FYI Eucerin ‘s Sun Protection range ALSO offers comprehensive sun protection formulated specifically for normal, dry and sensitive skin for both face and body.
