Tallulah Willis

Shhh! I want to tell you a secret. I never went to my debs. I was banned! Long story. Anyhoo, something every young debutante – such as Tallulah Willis, pictured above – needs to know about, is Callan & Co in Dublin 4.

Whether it’s a natural vibe you’re looking for or a fully stylised look, you can get everything done under one roof. The make-up artists can create any look, with pricing from €55. For extra oomph, a semi-permanent lash application is €85.

The hairstylists can then lift, fluff and twist that hair into voluminous curls or an edgy up-style, €75; or complete a gorgeous blow-dry from €30. No tangerine teens here, as they use James Read tan, a personal fave. To finish the look, a gel-polish mani is €35. See callandco.ie

MAKING FACES

Now here’s something super-special folks, and a definite investment piece for the face. Based on his bestselling book Making Faces, legendary MUA Kevyn Aucoin’s The Making Faces Beauty Book, right, €90, on net-a-porter.com, is an illustrated how-to with actual make-up.

This beautiful contour, face and eye palette set includes three magnetic pages of eyeshadows, blushes and contouring powder, with tips and designs from the late make-up artist himself. It’s been in my basket for a few weeks now, and writing about it here makes me think it’s time to check out!

If you’re a lover of wash-in, wash-out dye or pastel hair, it’s worth having something to fade unwanted colour in prep for the next change. Anti-dandruff shampoos are perfect. Bioderma Node DS+ Anti-Dandruff Intense Shampoo, above, €13.50, instantly aids colour reduction.

Body Shop’s Amazonian Saviour Multi-Purpose Balm

Show me your tats! I said tats, sillies! Tattoos are like Pringles, once you pop your tattoo cherry, you can’t stop!

The Body Shop’s brand new Amazonian Saviour Multi-Purpose Balm, above, €15, is an intense soother for dry skin that can also refresh the appearance of tattoos, brightening them by locking moisture into the skin. It’s 100pc natural, with only nine ingredients, including the lipid-rich organic andiroba oil; it’s a conscious choice and a smart one. Just like a tattoo, wha?!

TRIONA’S TOP TRENDS

I feel like focusing on young wans this week, as my younger sisters, Anna and Laura, have been staying with me. So I’ve been testing out products aimed specifically at millenials, like this new skincare range, Waso, by Shiseido, pictured below. Championing natural beauty all the way, many of the key ingredients are inspired by Japanese food, with a focus on well-being. No avocado jokes here, please! The products can be used individually, or as part of a step-by-step programme. Now here’s a beauty regime that didn’t get lost in translation!

Waso

The first is a weekly scrub, the Soft + Cushy Polisher, €28, with soy lecithin (it’s found in tofu), to polish the skin’s surface. Next comes the Quick Gentle Cleanser, €25, with hachimitsu honey to remove make-up and clean the area. The third step involves the Fresh Jelly Lotion, €25, with kikurage – a white, jelly-like mushroom – to hydrate and plump the skin’s surface. The last step, moisturiser, comes with a variety of options – from the Quick Matte Moisturiser (oil-free) and Color-Smart Day Moisturiser (oil-free) for normal-oily complexions, to the Waso Clear Mega-Hydrating Gel and Color-Smart Day Moisturizer for normal-dry skin; all €35.

It’s a complete collection, allowing you to pick and choose the products you’d like to use, as well as combining them into a tailored routine. Deceptively simple, versatile and utterly refreshing!
